Teach For America’s New Teacher Training is officially underway for their newest corps members as they prepare to lead classrooms this fall. As part of an ongoing commitment to supporting local education, Associated Grocers recently stepped up to sponsor and champion these incoming leaders during their preparation.
This month, the new corps members are learning from education and community leaders, exploring Louisiana’s recent education policy shifts that are driving national attention, and hearing directly from students as they shape their vision for educational leadership.
Hands-On Training for Future Leaders
Corps members are now in the critical practicum phase of training. This hands-on environment allows them to:
- Teach summer school students to gain real-world classroom experience.
- Practice and refine vital instructional strategies.
- Receive real-time coaching and constructive feedback.
- Build the essential skills and confidence needed to create strong, student-centered classrooms on day one.
A Sweet Surprise from Associated Grocers
Showing community support goes beyond corporate sponsorship. Roeshawn Peters, Associated Grocers Corporate Marketing Manager, dropped by the summer training session to speak with the new teachers directly and hand-deliver a token of appreciation.
The teachers were surprised with custom gift bags filled with essential school supplies and premium treats from Associated Grocers’ popular private label brands, including Simply Done, Food Club, and Crav’n.
