BATON ROUGE, LA – The 2024 Associated Grocers GMRA Scholarship Fund recipients were recently announced. The Associated Grocers/GMRA partnership scholarship program benefits students working within Associated Grocers retail member stores. The Grocery Manufacturers Representatives Association (GMRA) is a nonprofit organization formed in Louisiana to bring grocery manufacturers and retailers together. The selected recipients will receive the first two semesters are awarded $500 each, the second two will be $1,500 each, the third two will be $2,000 each, and the final two semesters will be $2,500 each that they remain working within an Associated Grocers member store. That is up to $13,000!
This year we congratulate the following outstanding students:
Blayne Drash
Blayne works at Pierre Part Store in Pierre Part, LA. He graduated from Assumption High School and attends Louisiana State University to study Computer Science. Blayne aspires to develop video games one day.
Braxton Daugereaux
Braxton works at Rod’s Supermarket in Churchpoint, LA. He graduated from Berchmans Academy and attends the University of Louisiana at Lafayette majoring in Business Management.
Destiny Joseph
Destiny works at Veron’s Supermarket in Lutcher, LA and currently attends University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she is majoring in Biology. She is a graduate of Lutcher High School where she was a member of the Student Council and Senior Beta Club. She also attended the Nucor Nulevel Academy. Destiny aspires to become a doctor.
Hannah Alban
Hannah works at Champagne’s of Carencro in Carencro, LA and is a recent graduate of David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy. Hannah is a staff writer for Community Chronicles in Acadiana and attends the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, majoring in Mass Communications.
Logan Kline
Logan works at Le Marche in Maurice, LA. and is a graduate of North Vermillion High School. He is a student at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette majoring in Electrical engineering.
Marguerite Lobell
Marguerite works at Murray’s Supermarket in St. Amant, LA and is a graduate of St. Amant High School. There, she was a 3 time All-State Clarinetist, 2 Time Drum Major and 6 Time District Honor Band Student. Marguerite is a Pre-Med student at Louisiana State University.
Devin Fleming
Devin works at Lamendola’s Supermarket in Gonzales, LA. Devin attends Full Sail University and is studying Graphic Design, and is a previous graduate of East Ascension High School.
Thomas Daugereaux
Thomas works at Rod’s Supermarket in Church Point, LA. He is a graduate of Berchmans Academy. Thomas attends Sowela Technical School and is majoring in Industrial Electrical Technology.
Tyler Thibodeaux
Tyler works at Matherne’s Supermarket in Baton Rouge, LA. He is a graduate of The Dunham School, where he served as a Cross-Country and Track & Field Athlete and earned a U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar Athlete Award. He is majoring in Biology/Business at Southeastern University.
