Southern University Men’s Basketball Players, along with Head Coach Kevin Johnson were the special guests at Associated Grocers’ Employee Hoop Fest. The team conducted drills and went over techniques with employees throughout the fest. There were three different categories; 3-pointers, Free Throws, and Lay Ups, which earned employees the opportunity to win prizes. Prizes included 80 Qt Boiling pots, Skimmers, Propane jets, BBQ Grills, and multiple gift cards. Southern University game day Basketball, jerseys, and other basketball swag were among the prizes.
Employees such as Brian Perkins were able to enjoy giveaways and showcase their athleticism. Perkins played on AG’s winning Panther Basketball team. Perkins is an Associated Grocers Trainer, a graduate of Southern University (College of Business), and a fan of the team and sport. “This is such a good event. It’s been fun to interact with our local basketball team and just have fun. Events like this from our company are appreciated.”
AG Drivers, Brian Johnson and Norris Simon made sure they stopped by the event. “It’s always good to come together for good competition and good vibes,” Johnson stated. Simon echoed those sentiments. “It’s nice to meet co-workers, and today was a beautiful day for that.”
Associated Grocers has partnered with the Southern University Men’s Basketball team this season with an initial sponsorship of their Elite Basketball Camp for local students, as well as serving as the Men’s Basketball Official Nutrition Center Partner. This partnership has kept the teams’ food pantry in their locker room filled throughout the practice and playing season.
Hoop Fest is an Associated Grocers employee event themed after the Don’t Miss Your Shot retail promotion. The promotion offers great deals on Our Family of Brands. Employees were able to enjoy giveaways from Food Club, Crav’n and That’s Smart.
