(Baton Rouge, LA) The 2022 Associated Grocers GMRA Scholarship Fund recipients were recently announced. The Associated Grocers/GMRA partnership scholarship program benefits students working within Associated Grocers retail member stores. The Grocery Manufacturers Representatives Association (GMRA) is a nonprofit organization formed in Louisiana to bring grocery manufacturers and retailers together. The selected recipients will receive $1,000 the first year ($500 per semester), and then $3,000 for each of the following 3 years ($1,500 per semester) that they remain working within an Associated Grocers member store. That is up to $10,000!

This year we congratulate the following outstanding students:

Paris Busch

Paris works at Murray’s Superette in St. Amant, LA. She graduated from East Ascension High School, where she was on the Colorguard for four years, with flag and rifle experience. Paris attends Southeastern Louisiana University, where she is continuing her Colorguard experience with the Spirit of the Southland’s Colorguard team. Paris wants to be a forensic scientist.

Kohl Champagne

Kohl works at Champagne’s Marche in Leonville, LA and graduated from Beau Chene High School. While in high school, Kohl excelled in academics and extra-curricular activities playing varsity football for 4 years, varsity soccer, for 3 years, varsity baseball, for 2 years, and varsity track, for 1 year. He served as co-salutatorian for graduation. He attends the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and is pursuing a degree in Business Management.

Izabella Frederick

Izabella Frederick (photo to the right)

Izabella works at Rees Street Market in Breaux Bridge, LA. She is a graduate of Breaux Bridge High School and is currently enrolled at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Izabella is majoring in Biology with a concentration in Veterinary Bioscience. Her plans are to continue on to Veterinary School at Louisiana State University.

Mason Phillips

Mason works at Calvin’s Bocage Market in Baton Rouge, LA. During the pandemic, Mason interned with the Walls Project as a student photographer to help create the Baton Roots Community Farm, in conjunction with LSU, BREC, and the National Endowment of the Arts. He is a student at Louisiana State University, where he is majoring in Architecture.

Ashlynn Robin

Ashlynn works at Benny’s Supermarket in Opelousas, LA. She is a student of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and is majoring in Advertising, with a minor in Marketing. It was working within retail that Ashlynn developed a love for advertising and marketing techniques.
